What Is Dry Eye Disease?
Dry eyes are caused if your tear ducts do not produce enough tears to your eyes comfortably lubricated or if you have an imbalance in the composition of tears. Dry eye symptoms vary from person to person, depending on the severity of disease. They include:
- Burning
- Irritation
- Redness
- Eye Fatigue
- Blurry Vision
It can also be the case that the eyes secrete more tears than usual — this is still referred to as dry eyes. This reaction usually occurs when the eye is not moist enough so the eye itself sends a signal to request increased tear production by flooding itself with emergency tears. However, these tears consist mostly of water and do not have the same qualities or the composition of the tear is abnormal. This is when a dry-eye treatment should be evaluated.

Is It Painful?
Generally, Tixel® treatment involves only a little discomfort with little to no pain. It is non-invasive and there is no downtime – making it easy and convenient for all patients with symptoms of dry eye to get treatment.
How Many Treatments Of Tixel® Will I Need?
In most cases, patients will need three Tixel® treatments, with an interval of two to three weeks between each treatment. In more severe cases, patients may require four treatments.
