Microblading (also known as eyebrow embroidery, 3D eyebrows, or micropigmentation) is a free-handed tattooing technique in which a small handheld tool made of several tiny needles is used to add semi-permanent pigment to improve or create eyebrow definition, to cover gaps of lost hair, extend the eyebrows, or fully reconstruct brows that have little/no hair.
Microblading is typically used on eyebrows to create, enhance or reshape their appearance in terms of both shape and color. It deposits pigment into the upper region of the dermis, so it fades more rapidly than traditional tattooing techniques, which deposit pigment deeper.
What Can I Expect?
During your treatment, we will begin the procedure by mapping the desired brow shape unique to you.
Then, using individual tattoo strokes or ‘feathers,’ we will complete the shape and style requested. The color choice is patient-specific and is mixed using a natural selection of micro pigments to complement hair color and skin tone and give you the best look possible. At CosMedic Laser MD, we utilize topical anesthetics to minimize discomfort during the procedure.
Is Microblading Permanent?
Microblading, although often marketed as semi-permanent, is permanent just like any other tattoo on the body. Periodic color boost touch-ups are variable and may be required to keep the color fresh every 18-24 months. Like all other tattoos, longevity and fading depends on multiple factors (quality of pigment/ink used, UV exposure, use of acids in skincare products, medications) but will never disappear completely.
What Results Can I Expect?
Immediately post-treatment, eyebrows will appear darker than expected but will fade during the healing process over the following four weeks. The treatment is typically a two-step application process:
- The initial appointment includes consultation and initial application.
- The second appointment a minimum of 4 weeks later is to refine the strokes and fine-tune color. The 2nd application ensures that the micro-pigments are healing properly and responding well.
