REJUVENATE YOUR FACE
What Is Facial Rejuvenation?
Wrinkles are common signs of aging as well as skin laxity. We lose collagen every decade of our lives. Scarring is a natural part of the healing process after injury and can occur as a result of trauma, acne, burns or surgery. Although most scars are not bothersome, when they are in an obvious location (such as the face and neck) they can be disfiguring and affect your self-esteem. But facial rejuvenation laser devices, including the fractional lasers, have revolutionized the treatment of these concerns in most skin types.
Our Facial Rejuvenation Treatment Options
Non-Ablative Fractional Skin Resurfacing with ICON Laser 1540
For those clients concerned with acne, surgical scarring, stretch marks, fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, or melasma (patchy, brown discoloration), non-ablative fractional laser skin resurfacing is an excellent treatment choice. The non-ablative fractional laser skin resurfacing performed with the ICON 1540 laser handpiece, is the most advanced available for skin rejuvenation and resurfacing. Additionally, The ICON 1540 is the only laser to receive FDA-approval for stretch mark treatment. Most patients require a series of 3-5 treatments at 4-6 week intervals for best results.
What This Laser Treats
This technology is the perfect choice for the treatment of:
- Acne and surgical scars
- Eliminates fine lines and wrinkles, crows feet
- Blotchy skin
- Improves skin tone, texture, and pore size
- Stretch marks on the body
How This Laser Works
The ICON 1540 non-ablative fractional laser uses microscopic beams of heat to stimulate cells to thicken the underlying collagen resulting in improved skin tone, texture and elasticity. The 1540 laser resurfacing procedure works by treating tiny columns of tissue within the larger treatment zone, leaving some areas untouched by the laser. By treating only a portion of the tissue, damage can be effectively reduced or eliminated while resulting in far less discomfort and downtime, and far quicker healing time, than other procedures. Since the non-ablative 1540 laser does not remove a layer of your skin, sunblock and makeup can be applied immediately, without downtime. This device is commonly used to treat all types of scars, stretch marks, and complexion irregularities and is safe on all skin types. A series of treatments are required for optimal results spaced one month apart. Laser Rejuvenation can further be augmented with Platelet Rich Plasma.
Fractional lasers in combination with other devices and procedures can dramatically improve the appearance of aging skin in most skin types, as well as build collagen to tighten the skin.
Microneedling with Rejuvapen™
Rejuvapen™ is superior to other Needling Pens and is safe for all skin types. Rejuvapen microneedling allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair mechanism by creating micro “injuries” in the skin which trigger new collagen synthesis without any risk of permanent scarring. The result is smoother, firmer, younger-looking skin and fainter scars and stretch marks.
- Minimizes pore size
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
- Lifts, tightens, rejuvenates skin
- Improves the appearance of stretch marks
- Improves the appearance of scars
- Improves the appearance of acne scarring
- Assists with redness and pigmentation
PRP Skin Rejuvenation
PRP works on the simple basis of utilizing your own natural platelets to instruct the body to create new collagen for tauter, smoother and better-toned skin. Utilized in various ways, the platelet solutions can be introduced with injections, microneedling, or as a topical addition to resurfacing.
A small vial of blood is taken from your arm. The blood is then placed in a vial and spun in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells and plasma. The process concentrates the platelet count to about 7X normal. It is this platelet-rich plasma that is then activated and injected into the skin or applied topically in a surface regeneration action.
The key to success is tricking the cells into thinking there is an injury. The serum is activated by the addition of simple calcium chloride. The activated plasma serum behaves the same way the body would respond if there were an actual injury – healing platelets rush in to create a rich fibrin mesh. This fibrin mesh, in turn, calls out to natural healing cells, releasing growth factors and stimulating the process of fibroblast production (the cells that create collagen) to energize and heal.
The end result is a healthier appearance, thicker dermis, reducing wrinkles and scars, and improved texture and tone.
PRP Rejuvenation / PRP Facial Options
Option 1: PRP Injection Therapy
Patients who don’t want or need fillers can benefit from PRP. The activated PRP serum can be injected just under the skin surface to stimulate the body to make a small amount of its own ‘filler’. Although this will not approximate the same results as you would get from a gel filler such as Juvéderm, you will still see some improved textural changes.
Areas ideal for PRP therapy include
- Full Face and/or Neck (especially horizontal necklace lines)
- Crow’s Feet
- Undereye Circles and Fine Wrinkles
- Acne Scars
Option 2: PRP Facial (Blood Facial)
The PRP Facial consists of PRP applied to skin that has been prepared by an automatic microneedle such as the Rejuvapen. This micro-needling makes tiny “wounds” in the skin which accept the PRP serum and begins the process of collagen creation along with the tissue enhancement from growth factors found in the plasma serum.
There are many wonderful benefits to having a PRP facial done on your face. These include:
- Smoothing out facial wrinkles
- Improve the blood flow of the skin
- Stimulates collagen production
- Thickens the skin
- Rejuvenate the complexion
- Lessened skin folds
- Improvement in clarity of skin
- Improvement in scars
- Skin will be smoother
Option 3: PRP Therapy Used as Laser Resurfacing Enhancement
Fractional laser treatments are known for their ability to retexturize skin. Adding PRP takes laser resurfacing to a new level by accelerating healing and increasing desired new collagen formation. Following your ICON 1540 laser resurfacing treatment, activated PRP serum is applied to skin that is ideally suited to accept the wound-healing platelet serum.
PRP has been used for years in regenerative medicine, in promoting healing and infection control in Cardiac Surgery, Orthopedics and other fields. We are excited to offer this treatment to our patients at CosMedic Laser MD.
